The 2-Minute Money Check

A chat agent that interviews a business owner about missed calls, quotes, and admin hours, then hands them a results card with the leak in dollars and hours. Behind the card: my inbox, my CRM, a tracking sheet, and a booking link. My top of funnel, and it sells the way I sell: diagnose first.

What a prospect experiences

Seven questions, all answerable with one tap. Then a results card that shows its work.

How I built it

This system has been through more revisions than anything else I run, because it talks to strangers with my name on it.

  1. The engine. Claude runs the conversation in an n8n workflow. A code node strips the model's hidden scratchpad so visible self-correction never reaches a prospect.
  2. The lead path. A finished interview fires five actions: alert to me, branded recap email to the prospect, push into my CRM through a secured API, row in the tracking sheet, reply back to the chat. Every step continues on error, so a down CRM never breaks the conversation.
  3. The test loop. Three research-backed owner personas, an electrician, a plumber, and an HVAC owner, ran through the live widget repeatedly. Every finding became a prompt rule or a code fix, and every fix was verified with a live run.
  4. The rename. Owner feedback said "audit" reads like the CRA, something done to you. It became the 2-Minute Money Check.

What the personas caught: a phone-number ask at the close that owners burned by lead-gen platforms refuse to answer, ROI math that inflated when a prospect's numbers conflicted, and one leak of the model's reasoning into the chat. The research also settled the positioning: inflated ROI pitches pattern-match to tactics that got lead-gen companies fined, so conservative math with disclosed assumptions is the trust play.

What the build taught me: discovery has structure, and a good discovery call is an algorithm you can teach, to a rep or to an agent. Ask one thing at a time, bank only what the prospect actually said, anchor claims to numbers they gave you, and show your work. Building that into software made me sharper at doing it live on calls.
